Zaré at Fly Trap restaurant owner and inventor of the "Hossy Hug," Hoss Zaré is on the up and up after October's scare and will be launching a lunch gig in the New Year. He thought about doing a food truck -- because they are so cool and happening -- but then he figured why not just run a quick-service lunch operation out of my restaurant during the day, offer a healthy menu of six Persian-inspired wraps with special breads (fat-free whole wheat pita, lavash and a "very special" Persian sangak) and call it Healthy Grill and Grain? Solid. Local lunch-goers will be able to take-out or sit for a bit and eat, but he says it's not going to be a power lunch meet up spot, per say.
Zaré tells us his personal favorite option will be the vinegar-marinated local sardine wrap. Steak, lamb, chicken, fish and vegetarian alternatives will comprise the menu: all with healthy yogurt or hummus spreads and lots of fresh herbs to fill them out. There will also be some hearty soups like green lentil with mini meatballs and pomegranate that can make a meal, and grain-based salads that will come in two sizes. Everything will cost under $12. Expect Healthy G&G to commence operations in early February with hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. And Mr. Zaré says he'll unleash further details in January. [EaterWire]
