This week in Bauer's Dine n' Dish (everyone use that, let's make it stick), he visits the recently refurbished Trader Vic's in Emeryville and finds it almost exactly as he remembers. That's good because the renovation took five months. Dang! Who was the contractor on this job? Caltrans!? Oh snap, consider Caltrans SERVED. Anyhow, the food is still out of a 1960's Hollywood version of Hawaii, with some dishes (creamed spinach in an artichoke bottom) executed better than others (uh, everything else?). However, the novelty umbrellaed cocktails are so tasty that you'll be too wasted to care. Aloha! [Chron]
