POP-UPS - This Saturday Jeff Gambardella, chef at Laurel Village's Rigolo Cafe, is creating an evening inspired by the South of France and Barcelona and calling it Riviera. With the help of Taste TV, the cafe's atmosphere will be transformed to evoke the theme -- how they're doing this, we have no idea -- complete with a $60 three-course dinner with wine pairings. Peep the menu and buy tickets here.
THE MISSION - GrubStreet picks up Charles Phan's liquor license application for the former Slanted Door haunt at 584 Valencia. Rumor has it the joint -- which is still nameless -- will be "'big,' and Asian, and would have a full cocktail bar." We've also heard talk of a mezzanine and major build-out of the space. Drop a line if you have intel. [GrubStreet, EaterWire]
OPENING REPORT - Vegansaurus! announces Loving Hut vegan restaurant will open its third San Francisco location in the Inner Sunset this Saturday. Apparently the vegan drumsticks are the way to go here. Who knew? [Vegansaurus!]
THE MARINA - A16 opening chef and certified pizzaiolo Christophe Hille will return for two nights at the end of the month: December 28 and 29th. He'll be bringing back some old classics in partnership with acting executive chef Liza Shaw. Should be a fun night of dining. [ISSF]
