New, 2 comments

THE MISSION—Beer & Nosh has a food porn blowout from a ramen extravaganza held by Nopa sous chef Richie Nakano, aka Linecook. And in the process comes the news that Nakano is looking for spaces in the Mission to house his ramen concept. [B&N]

NOE VALLEY—In a smart move, Sardinian gem La Ciccia is donating 25% of its food and wine sales on Valentine's Day to UNICEF's Haiti fund. The restaurant will serve the regular menu in addition to a special V-Day one. [EaterWire]

LOWER HAIGHT—Speaking of comebacks, a tipster sends word that Hanabi is back from the dead and has reopened following a "fairly sizable overhaul." [EaterWire]

SOMA—The big walk-through reveal dropped last week, and right on schedule, Passion Cafe opened for business today. Whether it will work or not remains to be seen, but at the very least, for a fairly standard cafe, it's got a pretty intriguing subplot, with the city's whole Sixth/Market rebirth theme. 28 Sixth Street; between Market and Mission [EaterWire]
