North Beach institution Caffe Trieste already has four offshoots around the Bay Area, but given the current coffee craze and more importantly, now that the company has been handed off to the next generation of the Giotta family, a more wide-ranging expansion might be in the works: "The cafes are now seen as central to the company's future as well as its past. Mr. Giotta thinks it could establish 20 stores in California and 100 across the country 'pretty easily.'" [WSJ]
