For the weekend review, Miketastic checks out the Mission's Japanese newbie, Nombe. As his 2008 review of O Izakaya can attest, Bauer is a fan of chef Nick Balla, and though the diner/taqueria decor at Nombe won't turn heads, the izakaya fare is quite impressive: "The small plates menu is divided by categories, and dining is mix and match. You can easily end up ordering too much because everything is so good and the staff paces the meal nicely." In the end, Nombe gets three stars for food and 2.5 stars overall. [Chron]
