The City Hands Out $50K to Original Joe's to Reopen

New, 3 comments

Don't look now, but there might finally be a resolution of sorts for the Original Joe's saga that has lasted since fall 2007, when a fire took out the beloved Tenderloin old-timer. And as suspected, the comeback will indeed be in the original Taylor Street space, thanks in part to Mayor PlumpJack. Newsom has green-lit "critical strategic funding" for two projects to revitalize the beleaguered Uptown Tenderloin area, including $50K to help jump-start the reopening of Original Joe's. The money will mostly go replacing the neon sign and rebuilding the damaged interior (seen here). The Duggan family will still be running the place, and they hope to be open by fall.
