The Register takes a long, early look around St. Helena's week-old Farmstead restaurant at the Long Meadow Ranch. You'll recall that the 110-seat eatery is set within an old barn, but that's just the beginning of the bucolic vibe. In addition to the uber farm-to-table menu prepared largely on the wood-fired grill or wood-fired oven, the decor also includes reused redwood, salvaged hayhooks, a hay fork, poultry feeder light fixtures, milk bottles, and outside, an apple tree-patio with "an authentic wood-fired forge."
