Yelp Wanted

2008_07_yelpwantedsmall.jpgTwo law firms have filed a class action lawsuit against Yelp in Los Angeles federal court, claiming unfair business practices relating to Yelp sales reps supposedly contacting a business looking for payments of roughly $300 per month in exchange for hiding or deleting negative reviews. The extortion allegations are virtually identical to the ones put forth in the lengthy expose last year in the East Bay Express, and CEO Jeremy Stoppelman has even acknowledged the possibility of a "rogue sales person." But this time around, the debate will be in the courts, not in the media. [Eater National]
