Beattie Resurfaces at Upcoming Bar; Plus a New "Speakeasy"

New, 3 comments

A pair of high-profile boozy bar projects are on the way for Healdsburg, aka Sonoma County's mini-Yountville. Up first, the upcoming H2 Hotel (sister property of Hotel Healdsburg, due in June) has landed cocktail hotshot Scott Beattie (Cyrus) to run its bar. Since putting together the acclaimed cocktail program at Cyrus, Beattie has been doing the consulting thing around town, in addition to writing books. At the hotel, he'll be joined by talented chef Rudy Mihal, who was last seen at the now-closed Odyssey in Windsor.

Then there's Prohibition, a new speakeasy and wine bar set to invade downtown Healdsburg.

According to the announcement, Prohibition will be a 20's-era "speakeasy" with an entrance through a fake phone booth (just like NYC's PDT), but it's not cocktail centric—it's a wine bar that closes at 9PM. That said, the 30-seat wine bar promises to include rare local wines from exclusive producers, so maybe there's some promise there for the wine crowd. It's due in early March at 340 Healdsburg Avenue, which is right off the main plaza.
