Out With the Locals, In With the Locals: Narsi's Hof Brau Closes, Local: Mission Eatery Coming Soon

New, 1 comment

Santa Rosa: Beloved diner Narsi's Hof Brau closes their doors today, marking the end of their 27 years in business, the last two of which were spent fending off eviction from the Coddingtown Mall which is upgrading their 60's-era facilities. Proposals for new tenants include a Whole Foods and there are rumors that the developers are looking at chain restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory to become the new face of the mall. Narsi's Hof Brau owner Narsi Samii is looking for a new location, but currently he "doesn't have the financing or location to make that dream a reality." [PressDem]

The Mission: Mrs. Tablehopper reports that Local: Mission Eatery is shooting to open by the end of the month. The concept is simple: chefs Jake des Voignes and Yaron Milgrom-Elcott have put about 40 seats in the former Alhambra Halal Meat Co. space on 24th Street and will be offering their take on standard lunch items: a couple sandwiches built from locally-sourced materials, soup, salad, house-made pickles and house soda. In keeping with this "local" theme Shauna des Voignes (previously of RN74, Ubuntu, and Quince) will be running a patisserie in the back to keep the baked-goods counter stocked with pastries, brownies, and cookies in addition to providing the bread for the sandwiches. Further down the road (once they get the beer and wine license) they'll be offering dinner on Thursdays with a single seating time and a four-course market-driven menu. Eventually, they'll expand to more seatings and begin offering cooking classes on Wednesdays. Finally, there will be a custom beer and wine list provided every week by the folks at Terroir and City Beer Store. [Tablehopper]
