Calistoga is now an official American Viticultural Area, meaning that imposters can't slap "Calistoga" on bottles of wine produced outside of the area unless 85 percent of the grapes are from the region. The Napa Valley Vintners Association thanked their representative, Congressman Mike Thompson, for his efforts to sway the federal Alcohol Trade and Tax Bureau to recognize the region.
