As mentioned previously, Taylor's Automatic Refresher is now doing business as Gott's Roadside Tray Gourmet for legal reasons. In the official announcement, Joel Gott remarks, "After ten years, we are proud of what we have created have decided it's time to give the businesses our family name - serving the same great food and great service. Tray Gourmet says it all - our salute to the classic roadside stand done with a twist: fast food as fine food, made with fresh, high quality artisan ingredients and cooked to order.”
Rick Robinson, who was the founding chef in 1999, has returned as executive chef and will be "pursuing an even higher level of cooking that showcases more boutique ingredients from local ranchers, farmers and purveyors." They plan on adding specials to the menu such as ahi poke salad and an upscale tuna melt.
Tonight, they are celebrating by giving away free cheeseburgers, ahi burgers, "Seoul" kimchi and pork burgers, fries, homemade ice cream sandwiches, and drinks at the Ferry Building location from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The St. Helena and Napa Oxbow Market parties will take place tomorrow from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. [Eaterwire]
