ScoHo Takes Over Izzy's to Open Brick & Bottle

New, 5 comments

Inside Scoop reported yesterday that Scott Howard is indeed taking over Izzy's in Corte Madera. Yes, the rumors were true. The new spot, Brick & Bottle, will seek to be a sort of "home away from home," featuring comfort food with a modern touch, which sounds a lot like his menu at FIVE in Berkeley. Howard is bringing his Chef de Cuisine from FIVE, Bob Simontachi, with him to run the new kitchen in Marin. Designer Michael Brennan, who recently did Baker and Banker and is also working on Bruce Hill's upcoming Zero Zero, will create an interior with, non-shocker: salvaged wood, exposed brick, and industrial touches.

Things like ice cream sundaes made tableside and a special counter allowing children to top their own pizzas should endear B&B to the many families that live in the area. Howard is looking at a late May opening and will continue to operate as Creative Consulting Chef at FIVE.
