A Parklet Grows on 22nd; $15 for 3 Courses at The Corner

New, 4 comments

THE MISSION - "Parklets" is a cute term for those parking spaces in front of businesses that have been converted into public spaces, like the one pictured here outside Mojo Cafe on Divisadero Street. And you'll be seeing more of them as the Small Business Committee continues to put them through trial periods throughout San Francisco. Another is set to debut this Friday in place of three parking spots in front of Revolution Cafe, Escape From New York Pizza and Lolo on 22nd St. in the Mission. Fairness of parklet placement is a bit of a controversy as they're a slam-dunk business booster no matter where they land, so we don't need to guess that the latest experiment will go well for Lolo and friends. These diminutive parks are especially popular on weekends, so 22nd street cruisers are advised to plan accordingly on Friday. [EaterWire]

THE MISSION EXTRA - The Corner will start serving lunch on Thursday of this week everyday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There's a $15 prix fixe lunch option with lots of choices, and a regular a la carte menu, divided up for vegetarians, pescatarians, and carnivores. [EaterWire]

CHINATOWN - Noodle Fest organizers are already reeling from the success of the May 2 event. An expanded version of the cross-cultural noodle party will definitely take place next year with more opportunities for merchants to join in the dance. [EaterWire]

WINE WIRE - Slow Food San Francisco's Golden Glass Wine Event will display more than 100 sustainable wine producers on June 12 at the Fort Mason Center in honor of its 7th Anniversary. The GGWE will also host it's second Wine Competition this year in which wine experts award gold, silver and bronze distinctions to the best "slow" wines out there. Confirmed complimentary food vendors at this juncture are looking good: A16, Acquerello, Betelnut, Delfina, E Tutto Qua, Frantoio, Il Cane Rosso, Lark Creek Steak, One Market, Perbacco, Plum Restaurant, Ristobar, Shokolaatt, Girl and the Fig, and Thirsty Bear.
