The Dogpatch Gets Beer Ice Cream; Craig Stoll Expansionwire

New, 1 comment

DOGPATCH - Mr. & Mrs. Miscellanous, the ice creamery and confection shop from Ian Flores and Anabelle Topacio, opened Friday. According to SFoodie, the Anchor beer, peanuts and chocolate pretzel ice cream is already a hit. It's called "Ballpark," so keep your eye out for fun, future, "knocking it out of the..." headlines. [EaterWire]

THE MISSION - Ramblas ended its 9-year run on Valencia Street on Sunday. Craig and Annie Stoll have officially taken over the space and will now get going on their new Roman concept that will probably be called Locanda. [ISSF]

THE MISSION EXTRA - Mission Loc@l reports Taqueria El Balazo has "closed until further notice" and a decidedly unappetizing new blue and black awning and paint job is already in place. Apparently this former El Balazo location has different owners from the 10 other Bay Area locations. No word yet as to what's taking it's place, but it doesn't look food-related. Speed insider tips over the tipline. [Mission Loc@l]

LOWER HAIGHT - Katz Bagels would like to open their backyard garden area for outdoor seating. If you're in support, do pop in and give your signature as a sign of approval. It will certainly help them get the permit they need from the City to make this happen. [Haighteration]

BERKELEY - SFoodie reports Philz Coffee recently opened its seventh location in the Gourmet Ghetto. According to co-owner Jacob Jaber, it's a huge, two-story shop with a "living room as big as a mansions' and an outdoor patio." They plan to install a large-screen TV in the next few weeks.
