HAYES VALLEY - You may recall Philip Roland's bagel shop was forced to shutter in the Lower Haight early this year. Sad because he was one of the only pros in town who knew how to make a real NY-style, chewy bagel. He then resurfaced as one of four partners at Terra Bakery and Cafe, which opened in April, and his delicious bagels were there. Well a tipster recently wrote to us with the news that "the bagels aren't as good...and Phil has left the partnership." A call to Terra confirms he and Jennifer Westmoreland have indeed left the building for good. Francois Valle, who was at Boudin previously, is now running the ship with one other partner who prefers to remain nameless. Do let us know if you've noticed a change in the bagel quality as well . WESTERN ADDITION- A new awning has come up in the shuttered B's BBQ space on Divisadero and McAllister. The new occupant appears to be a Mexican joint called El Rancho Grande. [EaterWire]
THE MISSION- Vincent Schofield, chef at Ebb & Flow, has officially moved on not three months after he opened the restaurant. His former partners, Craig and Tony Dropalas, who also ran the space's former occupant Craig's Place, will now take over as sole owners again. Schofield says the split was amicable. [Tablehopper]
UNION SQUARE- The Dine About Town launch party is tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at the Westfield Centre Under the Dome. A $20 donation will land you tastes from such restaurants as Ristobar, Lark Creek Steak, and Chouchou and complimentary mini wine pours. All this means the beginning of culinary stimulus across the land. [EaterWire]
