New, 1 comment

HAYES VALLEY - A tipster writes in today with news that Zuni Cafe pastry chef, Jennifer Grantham, will be moving on to start a restaurant called Pizzeria Zingari with her husband in San Diego. This coming Saturday will be her last day at Zuni and she's planning to put her all-time favorite desserts on the dessert menu as a send-off. After that, Annie Callan, who has assisted her for the past year, will step up to run the department. [EaterWire]

THE MISSION - Probably the most depressing news of the day comes via Signore Lucchesi over at the Chron: the bbq and Southern food program at Bruno's from Ryan Ostler and Katherine Zacher, who first made waves at Excelsior's Broken Record, will be ending as of this Saturday. [ISSF]

THE MISSION EXTRA- This weekend at Foreign Cinema, the work of Indian cookbook author Niloufer Ichaporia-King can be sampled in an exotic brunch menu inspired by her travels through India and Mexico. Some regular Foreign Cinema brunch favorites will be served as well if you're afraid of Indian-Mexican brunch fare. Call 415-648-7600 for resys. [EaterWire]

UNION SQUARE - Devil's Gulch Ranch is doing a four-course whole hog dinner at Kuleto's next Tuesday. The winemaker from the Russian River Valley's Vision Cellars will be in the house explaining the wine pairings. The menu includes a roast pork loin with local bing cherries, rosemary polenta and braised red cabbage and you can email this address, for reservations or more information. [EaterWire]
