POTRERO HILL - We first mentioned Skool, a new Japanese-leaning, fish-forward restaurant, a little over a month ago. And now, via press release, we learn the 43-seater has opened for lunch only in the San Francisco Design Center with a 35-seat outdoor patio, to boot. There's no liquor license yet; but if you're extremely hungry midday, their "lunch box" includes tastes of five different main courses, soup of the day and greens or fries for $15 or less. Dinner and brunch coming soon. As always, we'd love to hear what you think of the place; here's their website as well. [EaterWire]

BARWIRE- Josh Harris and Scott Baird a.k.a. The Bon Vivants are getting a lot of action these days. In addition to landing the enviable job of Ty-Flo cocktail consultants, this weekend they are in Rockville, MD helping Aqua-owner Mark Weiss open the second outpost of his Againn Tavern. The not-so-terrible twosome also consulted on Weiss' cocktail menu at the concept's Washington, DC location. [EaterWire]

MARINA - A tipster writes in today with disturbing/fun news regarding dance/make-out hub Hi-Fi on Lombard: "I walked by...on my Lombard jaunt and it is CRAZY. They have dumped lord knows how many gallons of sand throughout the entire bar. I mean we're talking, the place is 100 percent covered, and it's thick too! I think it's going to be like that all weekend (that's what the happy hour sign said)." And we really would like eyewitness weekend shenanigan reports sent directly to Eater HQ via the ever-present tip line. [EaterWire]

NOODLEWIRE - Hapa Ramen won't quit. This Saturday they'll be camping outside the Dogpatch Saloon to serve their pork ramen starting at 6 p.m. And then on Tuesday, they'll be at Heart serving ramen and izakaya "treats." Their regular gig, however, continues to occur at the Ferry Building during the Thursday lunch hour. They are also teasing us with news that a breaded fried pork sandwich is on the way. [EaterWire]

OAKLAND - Bellanico Restaurant & Wine Bar is now offering half off a selection of small Venetian snacks along with three-ounce wine pours available for purchase. They're calling it "ombra hour" and it will last from 9 p.m. to close every night from Saturday onwards. [EaterWire]
