OAKLAND - Commis pastry chef Carlos Salgado is teaming up with Thermidor's Kyle Caporicci and Luis Villavelasquez of Orson and Absinthe to create a 9-course savory tasting menu on July 12. It includes things like confit of porcini with warm coffee-scented potato mousse & pickled blueberry and, of course, two desserts. More information is available here. [EaterWire]

CHEFS ON THE RUN - It appears Erik Hopfinger has left Waterfront not two months after he received such nice words from Mikey Flippers. Stories aren't lining up over there, so it probably was a bit of an abrupt departure. [ISSF]

CASTRO - Starbelly is now doing urban picnic dinners on its nicely heat-lamped patio on Tuesday nights from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. through August. Items like fried chicken, sloppy Joes, ribs and salads are served family style and the cost is $25, not including beverages. More info can be found on the Web site. [EaterWire]

@offalchris - Morimoto isn't the only TV Chef who's injured right now. Via the tweets, we learn Chris Cosentino has broken his finger; but it sounds like he's still cooking and living the dream as per usual. [Twitter]
