Lalime's "Going Strong;" Comstock Saloon; MORE

Today Bauerrific starts things off at Lalime's, the Berkeley fixture from Haig and Cindy Krikorian that's been at it for 25 years now. New chef Brian White has a few missteps, such as the timidly fried soft-shell crabs and French fries, but impeccable service and pleasant interior preserve its storied reputation: "So although the food isn't as good as I remember, even after 25 years Lalime's is deservedly going strong." And it's left with the deuce, overall. [Chron]

Now let's hop to The Barbary Coast via Comstock Saloon with our tour guide, The Kauff, who's come up with a new marker for the North Beach gastropub: "Victorian-Californian restaurant." And it appears the talent here is well-distributed among barkeep owners Jonny Raglin and Jeff Hollinger, chef Carlo Espinas and pastry chef Luis Villavelazquez: "everything about the place — drinks, food, decor — is so beautifully realized." [SF Weekly]

At the Bay Guardian, Reidinger is weaving all sorts of history lessons into his review of Potrero Hill's newish Turkish restaurant, Pera from Irfan Yalcin and his wife. Here chef Muhammet Culha "turns out items I haven't seen before on Turkish (or Greek!) menus around town:" talas boregi (a sort of Turkish chicken pot pie), balik kofte (a pair of hamburger-flat disks) and eastern Mediterranean yogurt with honey, for example. These combined with Pera's "low-key atmospherics" create a dinner experience that's all together endearing. [SFBG]

THE ELSEWHERE: The Co Co Times takes in killer views at Benicia's Sailor Jacks ; the EBX has a tempura tantrum at Berkeley's Sumo Grub; the meat-loving Merc is won over by Turmeric's veggie cuisine; the Marin IJ is hanging out at Mill Valley Beerworks; Metro SV hunts down Pakistani fare at Tandoori N Curry; the Chron's second Datebook review is at Sasa; Miriam Morgan has a Bargain Bite at Little China Kitchen in San Mateo; and finally Jon Bonné does a Bar Bite at Adesso in Oakland.
