THE MISSION - We ran into Ron Elder at his forthcoming burger-, and wine-centric, B³ today and noticed some new wall paintings of grapes and vines inside. The Bold Italic is so excited about this opening, they're hosting this pre-opening event, complete with backstory and tasting of the restaurants small-batch wines, burgers, sausages, desserts et al. on August 2nd, which is precisely one day before the planned grand opening. [The Bold Italic]
THE MISSION EXTRA - Grub is getting close to its projected opening day of next Wednesday. People are already being snarky about the name; but a restaurant offering moderately priced create-your-own burger or mac n' cheese options may be what everyone is looking for. [Tablehopper, Generic]
WINE COUNTRY - The American Institute of Wine and Food is doing its first Savor Wine Country event from July 28 until Aug. 1. Morimoto, Michael Chiarello, Gale Gand, and Rick Tramanto will be featured at some of the festivities. And it looks like they've got a little deal going with The Avia and River Terrace Inn hotels. You need to register for some things by Monday, so do check out the full schedule of happenings here if this sounds interesting. [EaterWire]
HOT ROAST BEEF -Per GrubStreet, Sycamore, the new mom-and-pop restaurant that will be bringing a piece of Boston's North Shore to the Mission, may be opening on Monday. Our earlier offer to collect opening reports over the EaterWire still stands. [GrubStreet]
FREEBIES - Unless the boys at Mission Loc@l are tripping, Humphry Slocombe will be at Four Barrel tomorrow rolling up free scoops. Watch out. [Mission Loc@l]
