Off the Grid To Haight, Mission, Civic Center, WORLD

Remember when we brought up Off the Grid, the new mobile street food party with live music and booze at Fort Mason? You may not know that organizer Matt Cohen, who owns The San Francisco Cart Project, has been pushing the Recreation and Park Department to let him orchestrate similar events in other street food-inclined SF neighborhoods. And via Facebook today we learn Cohen got his way yesterday.

Off the Grid will park five or so carts at Civic Center Plaza on Fridays; 15 on the closed portion of Waller Street at Stanyan Street on Tuesdays and Sundays; and eight at Mission Playground on Saturdays. No word yet as to how soon this will all roll out, but if you'd like to get in on the action right away, the street foodgasm will be exploding tonight at Fort Mason -- its regular Friday location -- from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Amy Sherman has a solid look at what to expect. And if you haven't come around to the whole street food phenom yet, now might be the time.
