MARINA - Have you been to Viva Goa, the mysteriously newish regional Indian spot with an Italian name? Uber-Chowhounder Melanie Wong brought the Lombard St. inhabitant to our attention this afternoon. They have Goan cuisine, something new and different, do send reports. [Chowhound]
PRESIDIO HEIGHTS - Spruce appears to have poached pastry chef Mie Uchida from La Folie. [ISSF]
TENDERLOIN - Thank goodness Jones closed in the Marina last year, because the new Jones opening at 620 Jones in September wouldn't be able to have it's oh-so-appropriate-and-easy-to-remember name. GrubStreet broke news about Jones in the Spring and now they're telling us Oola Chef Ola Fendert will be crafting the menu. Our favorite Bon Vivants are also involved and this is starting to get interesting. [Update: The publicist for the Bon Vivants writes in with word that the Bon Vivants are not involved in this project. Didn't really sound like a great fit anyway.] [GrubStreet]
RECALLS- Raquel's brand hummus, wraps and sandwiches have been recalled by South SF manufacturer Quong Hop & Co. Click through to CBS 5 for more info. [CBS 5]
RAIDS -A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in a marijuana raid in Mendocino county on Tuesday. Apparently marijuana grows in Mendo have escalated rapidly in the past year and there's been a related uptick in investigations and raids. [Press Dem]
