Eater Hottest Chef Competition 2009 heavyweight and one-time Quince pastry chef, William Werner, is up to way more than looking good these days. Yesterday we learned of a project he's been sneakily working on for months and months with Mark Weiss of Whisk Group, you know, the guy who bought the Aqua assets and is creating a mega-brasserie called Brasserie Lille in the FiDi. And today, more details filter in via press release regarding Tell Tale Preserve Company an an all-day affair combining elements of the European pâtisserie, delicatessen and boulangerie coming to the former Candelier space on Maiden Lane in November. Tell-Tale will serve everything from your morning pastry to your afternoon pick-me-up to your jar of preserves.
That's right, Werner has a thing for jam; and you'll be able to refill your empty Tell-Tell preserve jar for a reduced price, which apparently is the Euro thing to do. He's also ramping up for wholesale pastry sales out of a huge kitchen in the Dogpatch. And on Monday, Tell Tale is starting a subscription program offering fresh pastries, preserves, confections, and savory breads for $35.00 per month. So there are many ways to get a piece of Werner in the not-too-distant future.
