Readers Cafe Opens; Una Pizza Napoletana Nears; MORE

FORT MASON - Today Readers Cafe soft-opened adjacent to the Friends' Book Bay Fort Mason book store at the south end of building C. They're offering a rotating menu of La Cocina eats, Blue Bottle Coffee, wine and beer and snacks from other locally based businesess like Kika's Treats. All procceds here benefit the San Francisco Public Library. Look out for "grand opening events" the week of the 23rd and more events, readings, coffee and wine tastings and art exhibits throughout the year. [EaterWire]

SOMA - Yesterday GrubStreet broke news that Anthony Mangieri is hoping to open Una Pizza Napoletanaon September 8. He'll be making four or five classic Neapolitan-style pies in a new wood oven from Italy. There's also news of his wine program, coffee, new wife and this: "I've been making this pizza since I'm fifteen years old, and you know, when all you do is one thing over and over again you tend to get pretty good at it." MISSION - Lady T-Hop has news about the new wine director for Craig and Annie Stoll's upcoming Locanda restaurant in the old Las Ramblas location. Brian MacGregor will be leaving his post at Jardiniere to create the new Italy-influenced bar program. Sounds like the Stolls are gunning for a mid-September opening. [Tablehopper]

DANKO WIRE - Gary Danko's American Brasserie project in Ghirardelli Square has looked like this for months and months; and Signore Lucchesi recently filled us in on the recent progress that's been made: final blueprints and construction to possibly begin in a month.
