Mojo Bicycle Cafe on Divisadero had a nice spring upgrade with the addition of the city's first parklet: part of the "Pavement to Parks" program that's still playing out in other neighborhoods. The inconspicuous Western Addition biker mecca is now spreading its wings inside as well, moving beyond its steady diet of beer and bagels to offer a chill Monday night supper club with one-time-only menus and guest chefs.
One past dinner had Cafe Gratitude's Shanan Manual making herb-crusted turkey meatballs and strawberry cheesecake, for example. Next Monday and Tuesday (August 16th and 17th), they're bringing in James Lalonde and Joe McColgan, who currently cook at Maverick and have worked at Pizzeria Delfina, Town Hall and Fish & Farm. They'll be serving this spiffy menu for an easy to swallow $18. The cafe also takes 10% off bottles of wine for these events; and owner Remy Nelson has been known to break out some special bottles for the occasion.
