Boogaloos Fire; A Shoot at Mission Beach Cafe; CC's; MORE!

SIGN LANGUAGE - A tipster has directed our attention to this here sidewalk chalkboard at Bruno's, the pizza restaurant across from Yoshi's: "Since Day One, not a week has gone by where they haven't brutalized the spelling of some basic dish or ingredient...they are becoming more and more funny. In this case, the spelling of "vegetables" is wrong BOTH TIMES!" As we've said many times, thank goodness for our spelling Nazi readers! [EaterWire]

SHUTTERWIRE - SFoodie reports that Boogaloos has shuttered temporarily in the Mission because they had a fire this morning. No updates have been reported at this time. [SFoodie]

OPENING REPORT - Inside Scoop has a first peek inside CC's Cocktails, from the former owner of Pierce Street Manor who's resurfaced in the vacant Cafe Maritime space. She's definitely going for something different here and Scoop points out it's not the easiest task to survive on Lombard St., but if Zushi Puzzle and La Barca can do it, why not a "sophisticated" bar lounge with a lipstick logo. Insert early reports here, as appropriate. [ISSF]

DEALFEED - Contigo is owned by Burners who can't go to Burning Man, so they're offering 50% off all bottles of wine normally priced under $45 until Thursday. You can go to the Web site to see if you can get a reservation, although we've had luck walking in when willing to wait a bit. [EaterWire]

WINE COUNTRY - Ubuntu is looking for line cooks and a general manager. A brief refresher, the food and cooking is still up to snuff as far as Bauer is concerned. [EaterWire]

STAR CHEFS - T-Kell just joined the StarChefs International Chefs Congress to take place September 20 to 22nd in New York. David Kinch of Manresa, Dan Barber of Blue Hill and Michael Ruhlman will also sit on the panel, which should be a rousing discussion of the tensions and future of the international culinary landscape. Have a look-see here for tickets. [EaterWire]

PIES ON CAMERA - It sounds as if pastry chef Alan Carter of Mission Beach Cafe will be appearing in a November spread in Better Homes & Gardens. His publicists have this slide show of the recent BHG shoot, a behind-the-scenes look at food-styling and camerawork that may be of interest. [EPR]

PRINT MEDIA - The September issue of Entrepreneur has this profile of the under-30 Emily Olson, who founded Foodzie. Apparently the site hosts 400 smaller food purveyors nationwide. And the best sellers? Skillet bacon jam and cheesecake in a jar. [Entrepreneur]
