On Friday we voiced our suspicion -- in response to a cryptic Tablehopper post -- that Joël Robuchon may be moving into the old PlumpJack Cafe on Fillmore Street ; and several commenters guessed that Dominique Crenn, not Joël, was the nationally recognized Michelin Star chef in expansion mode. Inside Scoop ends the mystery today, and Crenn it is, people. It feels like she's been spreading her wings for a while now, what with that Alembic craziness, killing it on Iron Chef America and all. So it will be exciting to see what the one-time Chef of the Year and Hottest Chef finalist will do with her new baby, Atelier Crenn.
So far, Scoop tells us there will be three tasting menus to choose from: priced at $55, $65 and $95 depending on the number of courses ordered; and there will be a "very European" design build-out by Nancy Nielsen starting soon. PlumpJack will remain involved as a silent partner and Crenn will (sadly) be leaving her current post at Luce after a few months. Expected opening window for the new Atelier Crenn is December of this year. Bank on several updates leading up to the debut. Care to comment, Monsieur Robuchon?
