Back in May, we mentioned the collaboration between NBA Hall-of-Famer and Big Nate's BBQ owner Nate Thurmond and Matt Sturm and Chris Cronk of Solstice and Fly Bar. Well now -- just in time for Big Nate's 20th Anniversary party coming up on October 9th -- the expanded ownership and management team is ready to announce all the changes. Whilst sprucing up the interior with new tables, chairs and a paint job, Sturm tells us they've taken a second look at several best-selling menu items and increased the quality of ingredients used.
The pulled pork is now roasted for 12 hours as opposed to the previous six. Hot links are made in house daily, ribs and brisket recipes have been reworked and, by popular demand, mac n' cheese has been added as a side option. Remarkably, they've lowered the prices as well. A combination special now costs $8.50, where it was over nine dollars before. Sturm, who is from the South, is excited to bring some good BBQ to San Francisco. And that anniversary party we mentioned might be as good a time as any to try everything. $10 admission shall include all-you-can-eat bbq, a raffle ticket, open bar serving wine and beer and live music from noon to 4 p.m. Look out for more info on their brand new Web site. And if you go in sooner, don't forget to send in early reports or file them away here in the comments section.
