Daniel Patterson opens Plum today in Oakland and we can't help thinking how great it would've been if he called it Fig. Oh well. We wanted to pass on this opening menu asap. Don't expect any juicy steak cuts, dripping pizzas, or roasted chickens on there. In typical D-Patt style, it's all chicken skin, pig's feet and farm eggs done up cerebrally and proving the chef owner behind all this isn't just a smarty pants writer, but also a keen enough business man to open up in Oakland -- where the rents are way better -- and to serve proteins with big profit margins.
But we digress as usual. Everyone's going to be going over the bridge for this one no matter what; so as always, we'd love to hear what you think of this much-awaited spot at the outset. GrubStreet also has this fancy peek at the nice-looking, blonde-wooded interior here. Stay tuned for your Eater slide show coming tomorrow after the MRI-of-plum artwork has been hung.
