Caffe Macaroni Is Now Macellato, Serving Two Sandwiches

Mario Ascione and Andrea Froncillo have made over their Caffe Macaroni at 59 Columbus to start serving sandwiches under a new name, Macellato. It's been in operation for about a week and a half now. Francillo has brought his popular Fulton Valley fried chicken sandwich with coleslaw from his other restaurant, The Franciscan. The only other offering as of now is an Italiano with mixed salumi from Fra' Mani and provolone. According to Inside Scoop, both are $9 and they only take cash. For now, hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, although they may extend that a bit later on the weekends depending how things go. So far, Froncillo says sales are going really well. Everything's status quo at the pairs' other spots across the street: Macaroni Sciue Sciue and The Purple Onion. Please do send us thoughts on this newcomer as down time allows.
