CHEF SHUFFLES - Los Gatos' Michelin-starred Greek standout Dio Deka has a new executive chef. Marty Cattaneo counts Jeremy Fox and David Kinch as his mentors and was most recently seen as Aziza chef Mourad Lahlou's sous on Iron Chef America. He plans to bring even more of a local, sustainable slant to the restaurant's acclaimed menu. [EaterWire]

TRUFFLES - Farina is going to be doing a few dinners featuring white truffles in January and the first one is tomorrow night. Instead of the usual menu, this list of truffle-forward dishes will be offered along with a few favorites from the regular menu. Naturally prices will be a bit higher to cover the truffles. THE SHUTTER - Four-year-old Moroccan Californian restaurant Zitoune shuttered in Los Altos over the weekend. Personnel cite the slowing down of the economy and the restaurant scene in Los Altos as factors in the demise. [ISSF]

FOOD TRUCKS - A new bbq truck called The Rib Whip will be coming out at the UN Plaza edition of Off the Grid this Thursday. After that, the truck will be in a parking lot on Brannan Street near Third with what may be the only on-board smoker ever on a food truck...and a customized sound system to boot.
