The news dropped yesterday that executive chef Chris Kronner is leaving his post at Bar Tartine and, as of March 1, former Nombe golden boy Nick Balla will be moving in to replace him. According to the press release, Kronner is "expanding his professional scope" as part of a "significant new culinary project outside the Bay Area." Meanwhile, Bar Tartine owners Elisabeth Prueitt and Chad Robertson are in the midst of expanding the restaurant into the adjacent space -- a project they aim to complete by springtime. At that time, daytime service will be added, the iconic bread program will expand and Nick Balla will usher in some big time changes with the direction of the food. Further news on all fronts will be released promptly as we receive it.
