Medjool Throws In Towel, Chunk Of Mission Up For Grabs

New, 6 comments

The big kid on the 2500 block of Mission Street, Gus Murad has put Medjool (2522 Mission) and the attached Elements Hostel (2516 Mission) on the Market for 7.1M. Yes, after all that fuss. But we're not done. According to several realtors, the nearby and enormous Value Giant (2558 Mission) building may be sold soon for $4.5 million, and the New Mission Theater (2550 Mission), which was granted a 20-foot height limit increase in 2009, is also now on sale for $2 million. Once upon a time, Murad had designs on that building as well. But now it looks like he's throwing in the towel on everything.

With a significant portion of this potentially game-changing block of the Mission basically up for grabs, plans for major improvements are beginning to circulate. Apparently realtor Collen Meharry is "talking to a very hot group from New York on coming in to the New Mission Theater,” and Meharry is planning to open her own nightclub that she says will dwarf Foreign Cinema.
