In regards to the whole Gus Murad/2500 block of Mission situation raised yesterday morning, a piece comes out in the Chron today revealing the ostensible sale of the three properties in question: Medjool/Elements Hostel, Value Giant and the long-shuttered New Mission Theater; "isn't what it seems." Murad's PR guy P.J. Johnston says Medjool/Elements is out there "to test the market." And that Murad is dangling the sales of Value Giant and New Mission Theater as more of "a negotiation to bring in new investors to jump-start the stalled development." So, even though they're all technically up for grabs, Medjool is "very much open for business" and he's not really planning to leave the other two buildings any time soon either.
For those unaware: Murad has been working to redo both the Value Giant and New Mission Theater sites for quite some time. But it hasn't exactly been a walk in the park. And that's without mention of the drawn-out roller coaster ride that is Medjool. Johnston relays Murad, "has been going through a difficult time," which we don't doubt. So for those wondering about his chats with the LGBT center, we'll hazard those are moving slowly too.
