A few goodbyes are in order as we kick off 2011. Take a moment to get up to speed on these latest subtractions from the San Francisco dining scene.

ACShutter.jpg1) Union Square: According to Chowhound, the Armani Cafe at Emporio Armani has closed. The retail store is under construction and the cafe will not be part of the remodel. We tried calling the cafe to confirm this, and the line just rings and rings and rings... [Update: Armani personnel confirm the cafe closed on December 31st and will not reopen.] [Chowhound]

2) Western Addition: Via tipster we learn Country Cheese shop on Divisadero between Oak and Fell will close after 26 years in business. It sounds as if the story here isn't over yet. The shop may relocate and is currently discussing the options. More on this as the story develops. [EaterWire]
