The MICHELIN Guide San Francisco, Bay Area & Wine Country 2012 dining guide will hit the shelves tomorrow with its verdicts on which restaurants deserve the guide's coveted stars, but—thanks to the Twitters and the Michelin reps—the full reveal happens on line right now. The big news this year is that Benu, Baumé and Saison have joined Coi, Cyrus and Manresa at the two star level. The French Laundry and The Restaurant at Meadowood continue to hold down the three star fort. And La Costanera and Sons & Daughters have been added at the one star level.
Michael Mina regained its star after losing it during last year's move to California St. As expected, The Dining Room at the Ritz and Mirepoix are both off the one star list due to concept revamps currently underway. And for this years headscratcher, Terrapin Creek has debuted with one star. Somehow, local favorites Fifth Floor, Commonwealth and Bar Agricole didn't make the star list or this year's "cheap" and cheerful Bib Gourmand group, although Luce managed to retain its star, despite the loss of Dominique Crenn.
