Following rumors that The Alembic is going to expand bar operations into Haight Street's defunct Red Vic Movie House, Ms. Tablehopper learns that this may indeed happen in the former movie house lobby, but the bigger movement is to create a larger marketplace with rental space for food-oriented start-ups. Taking its lead from Bernal Heights' 331 Cortland Marketplace, the working name for all this is 1727 Haight, but it won’t be happening "until well into 2012." [Tablehopper]
