Here is one of the mood boards for The Elevens, an experimental, microfinanced, crowd-sourced restaurant Daniel Patterson is behind consulting on in New York. He's teamed up with designer-owners Scott Kester (who did Coi) and David Lefkowitz (out of New York) to come up with this very unique restaurant arrangement. Sign up to become one of 2,000 "seatholders" and you'll get 25% discounts on food, priority on reservations, voting abilities and access to exclusive events—not to mention bragging rights—throughout the duration of the restaurant's existence.
Cocktail expert Dale DeGroff is also on board as the beverage consultant, and Patterson says food and cocktail pairings will most definitely be a focus. The sample menu has lots of things you'd expect from Patterson: pig ears with frisee, for example; but there are some surprising elements on there too, like gruyere grilled cheese and "ice cream sandos." The aim is to be an inexpensive place to hangout. The decor shall be “New Victorian, but not fancy, civilized yet playful.” And if all goes well with the concept, the next move is to open something similar in San Francisco.
