Thomas Keller's Candy Bar, Azucar Lounge Opens, More

NOW OPEN- Former Redwood Room beverage manager Jon Ojinaga has opened a bar called Azucar Lounge at 9th and Folsom in SoMa. The idea here is to provide "a place where food...[is] inexpensive and offered late in this neighborhood." Also: five nice sounding cocktails and comfy couches. More here. [Alcademics]

POP-UPS - Berkeley's eVe will be bringing its "neoArtisanal" kitchen skills to the city on Nov. 20 with a 5-course pop-up dinner at Coffee Bar. It's a $40 affair, and chef-owners Chris and Veronica Laramie will be incorporating a significant amount of Baia pasta into the meal. Email info@baiapasta.com for more info and reservations. KELLERVERSE - Thomas Keller is offering his first candy bar in New York right now, but the cool thing is, it has no name yet. He's currently having a contest to name it, and if you win, he'll ship you a whole box. The ingredients: dark chocolate, caramel ganache, chewy peanut caramel. Take a look at the picture here for inspiration. [ISSF]

BOOZE WIRE - On Nov. 16, Bottlecap is releasing its first barrel-aged cocktail (a vieux carré) and Widmer's barrel-aged beer. Making it more festive, they're also doing special food pairings to go with each beverage. The shin dig shall go from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and more information is here. [EaterWire]
