Mikey Bang Bang is at Trace at The W Hotel, calling it a "1990s time capsule" and complaining about the noise: "Trace feels more like an elegant nightclub than a restaurant...Those who want to dance and get wild aren't likely to be up for the intricately constructed meals cooked by Paul Piscopo, and those who want to pay attention to his artistry probably don't appreciate a trendy, earsplitting environment." Although "Piscopo has been the chef at the hotel for more than eight years, and his talent is better than the surroundings...Trace feels a bit like a canned act going through the motions to be cool and current.
