You may remember the Good Food Awards had its inaugural year last year. The organization was founded locally by people connected to Slow Food and Alice Waters in order to award outstanding food producers and farmers across the U.S. Last year, there were 71 winners, 13 of which hailed from the Bay Area; and now that this year's list of 144 Good Foods finalists has been announced, it looks like we're gearing up for another strong finish in 2012.

So there are some real, tangible business benefits to dominating this contest. Stay tuned for Eater's announcement of the winners in January.
