Chron has a profile on the aftermath of this weekends five-alarm fire that demolished Cafe Intermezzo, Raleigh's pub, Thai Noodle II and the 39 apartments at 2442 Telegraph Ave in Berkeley. Across the street is another vacancy: the old Berkeley Inn, which hasn't seen any action since 1989, and the area was suffering economically for quite some time before the fire hit. City Council officials are urging local residents to spend their money nearby in order to kick-off Telegraph's comeback. "The shop owners will be hugely appreciative." [Chron]
