John%20Murio%27s%20Revamps.jpgAfter some unsettling plywood went up at 50-year-old Haight dive Murio's, Tablehopper unearths the full story: owner Roger Howell has brought in a new business partner and designers Thornbird Styling to create a totally new "darker and masculine" look: "tufted caramel-colored banquettes, sexy 70s wallpaper...vintage and mid-century chairs, and organic surfaces." Sounds nice, but no doubt disturbing for Murio's regulars. The PBR, the bar top, the pool table, the historic sign outside, and John Murio's trophies will all stay put. The plan is to soft-open "the new" Murio's the week before Christmas. [Tablehopper]
