COMING ATTRACTIONS - Next week kicks off a special slew of holiday dinners at Fifth Floor. Atelier Crenn's Dominique Crenn, Baker & Banker's Jeff Banker, Bar Agricole's Brandon Jew, Zare at Fly Trap's Hoss Zare, and SPQR's Matthew Accarrino will all join executive chef David Bazirgan in the kitchen on alternate nights to create a $95 tasting menu inspired by their heritage. The full schedule is here. This means Brandon Jew will be cooking Chinese, Zare will be doing it up Persian-style, and the Baz will show his Armenian side for the final night's affair. Take a look at all of the menus this way, and book those reservations soon. These are bound to be festive nights. [EaterWire, ISSF]
THE LUNCH BUNCH - Jardiniere (300 Grove St.) will be adding a lunch service every Friday before Christmas from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They've also got a $24 three-course fixed price kid's menu going this month, making it a good stop before Holiday-time shows in the Civic Center. [EaterWire]
NORTH BAY - Sausalito's Plate Shop (39 Caledonia St) is now offering $2 off cocktails and appetizer specials from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the bar, Sunday through Thursday. They also added a late night menu, available Saturday and Sunday nights from 10 p.m. to midnight. The burger will be a fixture on that. [EaterWire]
CHEF SHUFFLES - Former Commis and Station One main man Zack Freitas has landed somewhere surprising: Zare at Fly Trap. Hoss Zare has brought him on as chef de cuisine, which will free Zare up for some more big picture stuff like a cookbook, new opportunities, and some much-deserved travel time abroad. The beloved meatballs and other Zare best-sellers will stick around, but you can expect to see some fun tweaks to the menu from Freitas before the new year. More on all this soon. [ISSF, EaterWire]
UPPER HAIGHT - Haight St. chocolate and coffee shop Coco-luxe will be adding a night time wine component called Coco-vine, featuring customized chocolate and wine pairings. Cowgirl Creamery cheeses and some meats will round out the edible options, and Vinyl owners Mark Bright and Kris Esqueda will be crafting the wine program, complete with a retail area in back.
