Despite losing Three Babes Bakeshop earlier this month, Bacon Bacon is moving forward with its much-needed brick-and-mortar breakfast and lunch stop in Cole Valley. Owner Jim Angelus says they'll start serving Roast Coffee and breakfast sometime next week. The space is a smallish one, with just enough room for a prep kitchen, cash register area and a counter space lining the windows so folks can lean up and eat. As such, it'll largely serve as a to-go operation, and a prep and storage area for the wildly popular Bacon Bacon truck (@BaconBaconSF).

Angelus recently cleared up the fact that the brick-and-mortar will serve items not offered on the truck: things without bacon like fruit, yogurt, house-made granola parfaits, croissants, scones and House of Bagels bagels. The signature item will be a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. He'll also have chocolate covered bacon, bacon popcorn, and Bacon Bacon t-shirts available.

When lunch service begins in mid-January, sandwiches and salads will be added. There's been talk of a turkey sandwich, and a Cobb salad with pork. Also note that Huw Thornton, former Locanda da Eva executive chef and SPQR executive sous chef, runs the Bacon Bacon kitchen along with Angelus. Thronton's touches will become more and more apparent in the coming months. Stay tuned for the Bacon Bacon brick and mortar start date and hours of operation sometime next week.
