MMM AMPHIBIANS- NBC's new Good Taste column discovers a frog dessert in town. Apparently snow frog, and also tortoise jelly, appear in several desserts at the Inner Richmond's Kowloon Ton Dessert Cafe (393 Seventh Ave.) "Both are said to aid in respiratory ailments and promote better skin. The mixed fruits tortoise jelly is the number four seller"—beating out ice cream and crepes—and has a "markedly bitter and herbaceous flavor." [NBC]
COMING ATTRACTIONS - The lineup has been announced for the next Chefs Holidays at The Ahwahnee in Yosemite (Jan. 9-Feb. 2). As usual, it includes some local talent: David Bazirgan of Fifth Floor, Ryan Scott of Brunch Drunk Love, Jen Biesty of Scala’s Bistro, Sean Baker of Gather and Peg Smith and Sue Connolly of Cowgirl Creamery in Pt. Reyes are all on board, along with former A16 chef Daniel Holzman, now of the Meatball Shop in New York. During each chef's visit, guests can partake in cooking classes and demos, chef receptions, and a four-course dinner paired with wines from local vintners.
