Per Diem to FiDi, The American Eatery in the Ferry Bldg.

Excitement hit Oakland on Wednesday when Daniel Patterson's second Oakland restaurant, Haven, was born with the very talented Kim Alter putting forth this menu. But there are more openings to talk about this week. Here's a little recap to take you into the weekend.

1) FiDi: Per Diem (43 Sutter St.) comes to the FiDi today from some of the minds who brought you The Brick Yard in Cow Hollow. The interior juxtaposes refined elements like crystal chandeliers with rough-and-tumble ship robes and iron. The menu includes such creations as duck leg confit served with bleu cheese tortellini and pomegranate fume, and Thrillist says the whole thing rivals Tyler Florence's nearby Wayfare Tavern. 2) Ferry Building: Prather Ranch's The American Eatery (1 Ferry Bldg.) opens today with meaty breakfast and lunch menus from former Ducca chef Erica Holland-Toll. The design includes Heath tiles and wood from an barn from the 1880s. [Tablehopper, EaterWire, earlier]

3) Bernal Heights: Rachel Herbert, she of the Dolores and Duboce Park Cafes, has opened her Precita Park rendition (500 Precita St) today. Take a look at the logo and have a peek inside over at Bernalwood. [Bernalwood, ISSF]

4) Mill Valley: Also remember Tyler Florence opened his second Marin restaurant, Hawk's Tavern, on Tuesday. It's definitely a contender for best burger slinger in the North Bay. [EaterWire]
