NORTH BAY -- As the proliferation of imported and soulless frozen yogurt chains hum in the background, a new independent shop opening in Larkspur sounds like it will try to be a little bit different.

"It won't be your run of the mill frozen yogurt," Mag's Local Yogurt owner Elliott "Mag" Magnuson tells the Marin Independent Journal. He's promising to use as many local ingredients as possible. The Yelp page for the business finds Magnuson taking that ethos a few steps further, promising that Mag's is "locally owned and operated" and will have "locally hired staff."

The 20-seat shop, located in a historic building, will eventually also include a dozen places to sit outside and a mural of local landmarks. It's set to softly debut on January 14, with the official opening party on January 21. [Marin IJ]
